Rate Plan Overview
After creating rate plans, you need to set up rates. Each day with a price set is available for your guests. If you do not set a price for a day, then you do not offer rooms with this rate plan on this day.
Rate Plan Screen Views
The rate plans screen offers you two different views: List and Prices
Rate Plans - List
The rate plans list offers you the view of all your rate plans giving you the opportunity to see your rate plan hierarchy with the most important attributes. By default, the view shows only overnight rate plans.
The list can be filtered by multiple attributes:
Once you have identified the rate plans you want to update by using the filters, you can select them and change them in one go.
For example, you might want to change the minimum guarantee of all your flexible rate plans to 6 pm hold:
- Filter the rate plans
- Enable the select mode by clicking select button
- Select the desired rate plans
- Select one of the available actions via Actions
Rate Plans - Prices
From the rate plans list view, you can easily switch to the pricing view:
The rate plan pricing view offers you the view of all rates and restrictions for the list of filtered rate plans. This view gives you the opportunity to see the prices and the restrictions for a specific time period.
You can also scroll down to see the availability and occupancy for the selected time period:
Like in the rate plans list view, you can filter, select multiple rate plans, and perform some actions on all the rates of the selected rate plans.
Pricing Rule - Deriving and Managing Rates
Rate plans can derive their prices from another rate plan or define their own prices. With derived rates, the prices only need to be managed on one rate plan. The prices for all derived rate plans are calculated based on the pricing rules. This is useful if a rate plan is a variant of another rate plan: one with a different room type, cancellation policy, or included services. Apaleo allows for 3 levels of prices - i.e. 2 derivations.
You can specify a price difference, as an absolute or a percent value. The difference can be negative or positive, allowing you to give discounts or to add supplements on the base rate plan.
You can change the pricing rule at any time. This allows you to switch from manually managed rates to derived rates and the other way around or change the hierarchy of the calculation rules.
Price Calculation Mode
When it comes to calculating prices every cent counts. In Apaleo, there are two different ways of calculating percent surcharges: truncate and round. This applies to both adult surcharges and derived rate plans.
This is better explained with an example. For a rate of 125.99 and a surcharge of +10%:
- When specifying truncate, the result would be 125.99 + 12 = 137.99
- When specifying round, the result would be 125.99 + 12.60 = 138.59
Prices
Prices can only be set for rate plans which are not derived. Via the 3 dots next to the rate plan, click on Prices to open a dialog to enter prices for a specific time range.
You can either define one price for the entire time range or define prices per weekday.
The price set is always the price for single occupancy. The prices for additional occupancies will be calculated based on the surcharges defined in the rate plan settings.
Restrictions
You can define restrictions for each rate, in the Prices tab of the rate plan screen.
Apaleo supports the following rate restrictions:
Minimum LOS
Length of stay (LOS) restrictions in Apaleo are arrival based. If you set a minimum length of stay restriction for a rate, each reservation arriving at this night or day will have to stay at least the defined number of nights or days in a row.
Maximum LOS
Closed on Arrival
Closed on Departure
Beware that to set the restriction on the 19th of May ( E.g.), you have to set this restriction on the 18th of May. As this restriction takes place on the day after of the one that you have set it.
