Email Address Field Explanation
Using the Payment Link
How to Customize Your Payment Link Landing Page
Nowadays, people do not really like to share their credit card data on the phone or via email anymore, and it is also not compliant with PCI-DSS. With the new payment link, you can create a payment request for a folio and send the link to your guest, so they can pay online by the payment method they prefer most.
Setting Up Payment Links
- First, add a payment to a folio and select the method to be "Payment Link".
- Then fill in the form with all the details. The payment will show up as pending on the folio as long as the expiry date and time is not in the past. You can copy the payment link and send it to the guest via any communication channel. Apaleo does not send the link to the customer.
Email Address Field Explanation
Why is there a field to enter an email address?
This field is not used to trigger an email to the guest.
As part of the Address Verification System (AVS) process, the email of the payer can be added here. Once the payment network (VISA/MasterCard, etc.) verifies the transaction, the email address will be compared to the one that the network has on file to better protect against fraud.
However, the email address is not a mandatory field.
Using the Payment Link
- When the payer opens the link in a browser, the payment form will be rendered showing the payment methods depending on the payment methods activated for your account and the shopper country you defined. After the guest pays on the payment form, the payment will be committed to your folio.
