A fair is a special period for any hotel affected by increasing demand over a short time period. It is agreed on, that room prices and restrictions differ from regular periods.
What is the smartest way within apaleo to set Fair Rates and restrictions?
There are two ways.
Within existing rates
Already existing rates can be adjusted with rates and restrictions for fair periods.
In 2021, the IAA takes place and Hotel Munich decides to increase it's rates affecting every category. For the period of the fair, September 9th until September 12th, the Flexible base rate is set at 475€. A minimum length of stay restriction of 2 nights in added as well. This can be repeated for other fairs during the year.
All the other rate plans are linked to the Flexible rate and change automatically.
Extra Fair Rate plans
An alternative is to create a rate plan specialized on fair periods. Now, tailored details can be installed for fair periods, without changing non-fair rate plans. This can save a lot of time, if many fairs occur during the year. Furthermore, it provides a clear overview of the fair period.
Hotel Munich created a Fair Rate-Plan with a minimum base rate. Every fair can have tailored prices nonetheless, when created as a (+new rate plan > pricing rule) derived rate.
Other rate plans not available to the public during these fair periods, should be blacked out through restrictions > closed, to make the fair rate the only bookable one.
